For those of you who can read Italian, a strange news item which was also reported in June 24th issue of Venerdi' magazine that's put out by the newspaper La Repubblica. (The original story is a gem, and as soon as I can locate a link, I shall post it here!) Apparently Treviso--quaint Veneto city and home to Italian corporate giants like the clothing line Benetton and appliances' manufacturer DeLonghi--leads the country in incidents of what is euphemistically referred to as "bent nail syndrome." While the reasons for this dubious honor are still unclear, according to the chief urologist at the hospital there, one patient claimed that it had occurred "closing the door of the refrigerator," so maybe the presence of the latter's no coincidence?
