There are thousands of Venetian cats
& now you can have one of your very own!

A recent cat census of Venice and the Lido has counted nearly 450 colonies of stray cats, for a total population of almost 5000! (That's at least one for every 14 Venetians!)

The Dingo Foundation of Venice concerns itself with the city's stray animal population, and even gives you the chance to take home a very unusual souvenir, your very own *healthy* Venetian cat!

(Although do keep in mind that each country has its own restrictions about importing animals, which you should investigate first!)

For more information, or to contribute, or to order their official Venice cat calendar,
you can contact Dingo at...

In addition, there's another webpage in Italian (from which comes the above photo) and you can read its literal "engrish" translation here.
